Cape Town - The running babes in red can now be seen on the beaches of Cape Town.
Baywatch creator Gregory J Bonnann teamed with his old writer Tai Collins to create a new version of the iconic beach rescue TV series - SAF3 - which follows the Malibu Fire Department and their various rescue missions in the sea, air and fire.
The TV show is being shot in the surrounding Cape Town area alongside local powerhouse Kalahari Pictures, who was also involved in Dredd and District 9. The show has a semi-permanent set on Camps Bay as well a permanent tank at The Ottery Youth Centre in which they do a lot of water filming.
The international show will also allegedly create over 200 jobs and bring R160m to the South African economy. The first season finishes its shoot on 13 December.

Cape Town friendly to filmmakers
Michael Murphy from Kalahari Pictures attribute the choice of location to Cape Town's hospitality to film endeavors. "Greg and his team looked all over the world, including America, New Zealand and Australia, but chose Cape Town for the production value, labour force and gorgeous scenery they could get here."
"Cape Town has proved again that it’s a film-friendly destination and it’s reaping the benefits,” says Michael.
Another important South African partner in the production is the Department of Trade and Industry, whose rebate offers international productions like SAF3 up to 25% of their qualifying South Africa spend back.
The show stars JR Martinez (Dancing with the Stars winner, All My Children) and Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables), as well as SA actor Karl Thaning (Binnelanders, Black Sails).
