Mr Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, have been accused of orchestrating violence after the disputed 2007 election resulted into death of hundreds, charges they deny.
Mr Kenyatta’s trial is due to start on November 12, while Mr Ruto has been appearing before the court since last month.
At the weekend, AU called for delay of prosecutions against presidents of Kenya and Sudan by the ICC, accusing it of bias towards Africans.
President Museveni has in the past also accused the ICC of bias and being too “shallow” to tackle Africa’s complex issues.
Immunity
However, addressing the press yesterday, UPC party spokesperson Okello Lucima said: “... he [Museveni] probably knows that his days are numbered to appear before ICC that is why he is extending autocracy and urging fellow African leaders to pull out of the court.”
He added that African autocratic leaders were the only ones mobilising for withdrawal from the Hague-based court.
However, Uganda Media Centre boss Ofwono Opondo, said Mr Museveni “is immune by virtue of being the President. If he leaves, anyone can bring criminal charges against him”.
He added: “No Ugandan will be forwarded to the ICC because we have proper courts.”
