Johannesburg - Following their second Premiership defeat of the season, Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese says everyone in the Amakhosi camp was left disappointed after the game against Ajax Cape Town earlier in the week.
“Everyone is disappointed. We expected to do much better, but it was not to be,” Lebese told Sport24.
“We let down our supporters who travelled all the way down to the Cape but it’s football and that is behind us now.”
The defending PSL champions lost 1-0 to the Urban Warriors at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday night courtesy of a late header from Tashreeq Morris.
The 24-year-old winger also said that although the Glamour Boys did not enjoy a good start to the season compared to the last campaign, there is nothing missing from his side and all is not lost yet as they are trying to retain all their accolades won last season.
“Nothing is missing. It’s up to us as players to work harder, we are fighting to keep our titles and that is not lost yet, it’s still a long way to go.”
“Finidi George” also revealed that Amakhosi are now focusing on their Saturday cracker against Gavin Hunt’s Wits and also revealed what to expect from his side.
“Expect a decent mentality from our players.
“We will play our hearts out and use our style of play hoping to bounce back.”
“It’s going to be tough I know but we are ready for the challenge.”
Lebese has played the majority of Chiefs’ games this season operating from the left flank but stressed that he is yet to reach his full potential this season.
“No I am not satisfied with my current form up to this stage.
“I am working hard to improve my game and hopefully as the season goes by, I will be where I intend to be.”
With arch rivals, Orlando Pirates, out of the country due to their involvement in the CAF Champions League, Lebese said he is backing them to come out of Egypt as the kings of Africa.
“They have done well in the Champions League so far and I’m wishing them the best.
“It won’t be easy in Egypt I know, but I am wishing them all the best of luck.
“They have quality players within their squad and I believe they will win the tournament.”
Chiefs will lock horns against Wits at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.
Kick-off is scheduled for 20:15.
