On day two of a Summit on Security and Peace in Africa, condolences on the passing of the former president Nelson Mandela continued to pour in.

African delegations from all over the continent reflected on his legacy.

Talks in Paris among more than 50 African delegations were scheduled to address Africa's economy, climate and development issues.

French President Francois Hollande mentioned the importance of pushing development agendas in Africa as Europe takes steps to take down trade barriers with African Economies. But, the attention was hijacked by emergency talks on fresh sectarian violence in the Central African Republic.

Hollande said a further 400 soldiers would be sent to help a 1 200 troops already on the ground trying to stop militia from terrorizing civilians.

He also called for the setup of a rapid reaction force that could be rapidly deployed to deal with conflicts across, for now though, everyone agrees external support is necessary.

With the Central African Republic descending further into conflict and France deploying troops to the area, it was evident that Africa still faces shortfalls when it comes to security.

Mandela's sad passing didn't overshadow the urgent need to address this, in fact many agreed his battle to empower Africa helped to inspire the agenda.
