Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka thrilled thousands of fans at an exhibition match in Hua Hin, Thailand on Saturday.
After the pair had posed for photos and signed autographs the world’s top two female players commenced battle on the court.
It was a tight tussle between the two in the first set but Belarussian – Azarenka, who has yet to win a grand slam, broke for a 6-5 lead and then served out the first set winning it 7-5.
Top-ranked Williams has won 17 career grand slam crowns and in a stellar 2013 won 11 titles which included beating Azarenka in the US Open final.
But she failed to seriously threaten her opponent in the second set of this Australian warm-up exhibition event.
Azarenka took full advantage and broke twice more on route to a 7-5, 6-3 victory signaling her intent ahead of the first slam of the year which begins in January.
