THE First Lady, Mama Salma Kikwete, has underscored the need to support girl child education to higher education if the country is to increase the number of women leaders in future.

Mama Kikwete who is also the Chairperson of WAMA made the call in Njombe when addressing a public rally at Kipengere Village in Wanging’ombe District.

She said time has come to support girls educationally until they attain degrees since they have been denied the opportunity for a long time.

“We all know that education is key to success and without it women will continue lagging behind, as it is in schools where they get knowledge and exposure which will help them in their undertakings,” she said.

She also counseled the residents in the district to take precautions and use protective measures insisting on being faithful among partners especially those who are married.

Mama Kikwete also challenged the district authority to reduce the number of maternal deaths.

Njombe West MP who is also the Deputy Minister for Works, Mr Gerson Lwenge called for Mama Kikwete’s support over three delivery beds for Mdandu, Makoga and Wanging’ombe health centres.
