While most women expect to be treated on Valentine's Day, Bacary Sagna is one of the few men in the world who is always the one getting spoiled... since the date coincides with his birthday.

The Arsenal defender celebrated his 31st on Friday with a large cake designed by his wife and children - formed of the numbers three and one surrounded by candles and decorated with edible photographs of special moments.

An Anglo-French message scrawled in icing below translates as: 'Happy Birthday to the best dad and my wonderful husband love you'.

The France international was so taken aback with the gesture that he posted a video of the cake on Instagram showing him giving the thumbs up

The image was accompanied by the caption: 'having a wonderful and happy birthday..nothing to say when god gives me such a good life, family and friends around me.. love you all. thanks to my amazing wife@ludivinesagna for that nice cake. love you xxx'

Hopefully, Mrs Sagna also received at least some flowers and a box of chocolates on what is supposedly the most romantic day of the year.

Meanwhile, Sagna's future at Arsenal remains unclear after he twice turned down the offer of a new contract with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

Arsenal are preparing a third offer but their efforts are being hampered by the tax havens of Turkey and Monaco - with Galatasaray and and the Ligue 1 club prepared to offer him a four-year deal on favourable terms.

The Gunners are usually reluctant to offer over-30s long-term deals, nevertheless Sagna is determined to seek the best contract possible, knowing the next deal could well be has last big pay-day.
