Bayern stars Bavarian banquet after draw with Man United... but Guardiola puts his team through their paces with warm down at Leigh's rugby league ground before jetting back to Germany

Bayern Munich's squad enjoyed a Bavarian banquet as a reward for gaining a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

But with plenty of important matches still to come, Pep Guardiola still had his stars back out on the training pitch bright and early on Wednesday morning.

Despite the quarter-final, first leg match not materialising into the rout many expected, Bayern have the advantage of an away goal to take back into the Allianz Arena return next Wednesday.

The job half done, the players and staff unwound over a banquet dinner in Manchester and guests were offered a glass of Paulaner beer or red wine with their meals.

Addressing the room, the club's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge congratulated the squad on getting the first leg draw, calling it a 'great result'.

'We didn't win, it was 1-1, but we're still happy,' he said.

Guardiola, sat next to him, smiled and looked relaxed though it had been, at times, an anxious evening against the English champions.

Danny Welbeck had seen an early goal chalked off for a high foot and then squandered an excellent one-on-one opportunity before Nemanja Vidic's incredibly athletic header gave United the lead  on 58 minutes.

But Bayern, who dominated possession and territory without generating many chances, equalised through Bastian Schweinsteiger eight minutes later to seize the initiative in the last eight tie.

Schweinsteiger will be missing from the second leg though after he collected a second yellow card for a foul of Wayne Rooney late on.

Guardiola suggested with a hand signal that Rooney had dived following Schweinsteiger's tackle, fooling referee Carlos Velasco Carballo into issuing a second yellow card.

Despite the looming suspension, the Germany international joked with his teammates as they ate their post-match meal.

With trademark professionalism, Bayern were back out on the training ground at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday morning for a light session ahead of their Bavarian Bundesliga derby at Augsburg on Saturday.

Guardiola's team have already secured the league title but have a 53-match unbeaten run to defend.

They are chasing an unprecedented 'double Treble' of league, German Cup and Champions League.
