Police shot dead four suspects and recovered a pistol Tuesday morning in Nairobi's Tena estate.
The police said they had received information that six gunmen, armed with an AK47 rifle and pistols, were robbing members of the public at a stage along Manyanja road.
Officers on night patrol then rushed to the scene where they managed to gun down four while two accomplices escaped.
Nairobi County Police Commander Benson Kibue said that police had gathered enough information about the two suspects who escaped and that a team of detectives were tracking them down.
The shooting brings to seven, the number of suspects shot dead in Nairobi in the last 24 hours.
On Monday morning, officers from the Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) shot dead three suspects and recovered Sh97,000.
The suspects had allegedly robbed a petrol station owner of Sh2 million in Ruiru in the outskirts of Nairobi and were escaping towards the city.
