ARUSHA will next week host five-day celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC).
The AUABC Head of Communication Unit, Mr Emmanuel Atenga said in Dar es Salaam that the week will be marked with a series of incidents and activities.
Mr Atenga said that the week, which is to be marked from December 5 to 9, will bring together anticorruption officials from across Africa to discuss issues related to combating corruption in the Continent.
"We will mark ten years of AUABC with various activities including workshops, exhibitions and a live concert.
The idea here is to ensure that the wider community participates and play a part in fighting corruption," he said.
The celebrations under the theme "making corruption unattractive in Africa" will also offer the opportunity to assess the ground covered over the last ten years and to reflect on future challenges in the next 10 years.
"It will also be an opportunity to popularise the convention in member states that have not yet ratified, to publicise the convention in regional economic communities with development partners in the African civil society," he said.
In another development, Megamark Entertainment has organised a music concert which will feature several local artistes who will perform on the climax of AUABC 10th anniversary at General Tyre Grounds in Arusha.
Chedi Ngulu from Megamark said that all the artists will bring into the stage various anticorruption messages and will be led by the theme "Corruption NO!". "In this undertaking we are focusing on youths who are the future and whom we believe are the determinants of the vice in the future," he said.
