Late Jerry Mruma to be buried on Tuesday

THE body of Jerry Isaac Mruma who died in Nairobi last weekend will be flown to Dar es Salaam for burial on Tuesday.

The father of the deceased, Mr Isaac Mruma said from Nairobi yesterday that the body of his son will be flown to the country by Kenya Airways. He said that requiem mass was held at the Nairobi city funeral home on Saturday and attended by East Africa Members of Parliament from Tanzania and officials working with the Tanzania High Commission in Nairobi.

Shy-Rose Bhanji, Nderukindo Kessy and Angela Kizigha were among the MPs who attended the liturgy. Other people in attendance included fellow students, friends and family members.

THE late Jerry Isaac Mruma who died under mysterious circumstances in Nairobi last week was brutally murdered, the report issued by police in Nairobi indicates.

Speaking over the phone from Nairobi on Saturday, brother of the deceased, Mr Nelson Materu said that the cause of the death was head injury caused by blunt force trauma.

“The police are still investigating to trace the people or anything that could have led to the death,” he said.

The 23-year old boy was a Tanzania student pursuing MBA degree at the United States International University (USIU) in Kenya.

Jerry was found dead last Sunday after he went missing the previous night (Saturday night) in Nairobi.
According to his relative, Jerry had attended a function at Pan Afrique Hotel at the fateful day.

“He left the function at around 11:30 pm heading home but a few hours later his mobile phone was not reachable,” said Mr Materu.

Family members, friends and other well-wishers are gathering at Mruma’s home at Mbezi Beach in Dar es Salaam for burial arrangements.
