Four days after Nelson Mandela was laid to rest the world continues to pay tribute to him.(SABC)
The recognition of former President Nelson Mandela continues across the world. On Thursday, the mayor of Paris named one of the city's main gardens after Mandela.
Mandela, who died on December 5, was laid to rest at his home in Qunu, in the Eastern Cape.
The Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoe, says they are bringing Mandela's name to the heart of Paris.
South Africa graciously accepted the honour. Arts and Culture Minister Paul Mashatile says this is great for the people of South Africa.
Locals are enthusiastic about the naming of Jardine Gardens after Mandela.
"He fought for the freedom of South Africa, more especially at the period of history," says a socialist, Pauline Gavrivzon.
A statue of Madiba will also be erected at the Gardens.
