The Tshwane metro council is preparing for the influx of people coming to view late president Nelson Mandela's body this coming week. The body will lie in State for three days at the Union Building.
The public will be able to view the body from eight o'clock in the morning until half past five in the afternoon on Thursday and Friday.
On Wednesday the viewing will start at 12pm.
Tshwane mayor, Kgosientso Ramakgopa says they are preparing for any eventuality.
Tshwane city planner, Jason Ngubeni, says workers are working around the clock to ensure the city puts its best foot forward. He says the road works of the Rapid Bus Transport-project will be stopped and the roads will be opened.
Other roads, around the route which the hearse will use from Wednesday to Friday, will be closed.
Mandela's body will be transported every day from the One Military Hospital in Thaba Tshwane to the Union Building via Kgosi Mampuru and Madiba streets to the Union Building.
Park and Ride facilities will be made available at the Tshwane Events Centre, LC de Villiers Sports Facility and the Fountains Valley Park.
People will be taken from these three areas to view the body and no camera's or cellphones will be allowed at the viewing site. Ngubeni says Public Viewing Areas will be set up.
Activities will be held at all the public viewing areas for the whole week.
The cities official memorial will be held on Thursday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
Ramakgopa adds the city will provide busses to train stations for people who want to attend the memorial service in Tuesday at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg.
