Qunu prepares to receive Madiba
Thousands are expected to pay homage to Madiba on Saturday when his body arrives from Pretoria.
Road closures in and around Qunu and Mthatha have been put into effect as of 9pm Friday night ahead of the Saturday arrival of the body of former president Nelson Mandela.
In Mthatha, all roads connecting to Sutherland, York and Nelson Mandela Drive will be closed.
Thousands of people are expected to line the streets to pay homage to Madiba as his casket is transported from Mthatha airport, through the town, and on to his home village of Qunu. There the Thembu community will conduct a traditional ceremony to receive his body. President Mandela will be buried at his family farm on Sunday.

Around 26 heads of state, leaders and dignitaries are expected to attend the funeral. These include Lesotho’s King Letsie III, the UK’s Prince Charles, President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania and AU chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
